China Geo University is divided into Wuhan and Beijing, both of which are independent schools, so the rankings of soft subjects in the two universities are different. China Geo University (Beijing) ranked 70th in the country in soft science in 2023; China Geo University (Wuhan) ranks 54th in China.

China Geo University (Wuhan) and China Geo University (Beijing) are both national key universities of science and engineering with national "2 1 1 engineering" and world-class disciplines.

Beijing campus

These two universities originated from 1952 Beijing Institute of Geology, and were formed by the merger of Tangshan Railway Institute, Tsinghua University, Peking University and the Geology Department of Tianjin University. 1970 moved to Hubei province to establish Hubei Institute of Geology, and 197 1 established Wuhan Institute of Geology in Wuhan. China Geo University was founded in 1987. In 2005, China Geo University (Wuhan) and China Geo University (Beijing) were established independently in Beijing and Wuhan respectively.

The discipline construction of the two universities is mainly science and engineering, and Wuhan has strong comprehensive strength.
