Unlike other universities, the University of Waterloo has no independent computer school. Computer science major is a computer department under a famous mathematics college.

Learning content

Computer major needs to take five courses every semester. Because it is in the College of Mathematics, the courses of freshmen will be basically the same as other majors in the College of Mathematics, mainly taking math and logic classes.

Programming language is the core course of this major, which has been involved since the first semester. But it will be gradual, and the difficulty and depth of the first semester, the second semester and the second school year will gradually increase. For example, I will learn C++ language in my sophomore year.

Students majoring in computer science will learn more mathematics and many computer programming languages. Students majoring in this major need to have a solid foundation of high school mathematics and necessary computer knowledge, such as the simplest programming language.
