Common sense is that if you enter your password incorrectly, the system will automatically prompt you to enter your password incorrectly. And if you enter the wrong number three times in a row, the system will automatically block your student number so that you can't log in again today. So I don't think the landlord's experience has anything to do with the password input error.
I guess the system was busy at that time, and it happened that the system was not busy when you changed that computer. Or more likely, the computer network you changed is faster than the last one.
