Nanjing University of Science and Technology, referred to as "South Institute of Technology" for short, is located in the ancient capital Nanjing, with Zijin Mountain in the north and Ming City Wall in the west. It is a national key university under the Ministry of People and Industry and Information Technology of China. As one of the key universities in "2 1 1 engineering" and "985 engineering advantage discipline innovation platform", it is one of the selected universities in "1 1 plan", "excellent plan" and "Sino-Russian engineering university alliance" and is known as the cradle of weapons technical talents.

Founded in 1953, the school was formerly known as the Artillery Engineering Department of the Military Engineering College of China People's Liberation Army (Harbin Institute of Military Engineering for short). It has experienced the development stages of the Artillery Engineering College, East China Institute of Engineering and East China University of Science and Technology, and was renamed Nanjing University of Science and Technology on 1993.

The school covers an area of 3 1 18 mu, with lush trees and lush grass, with a total construction area of1120,000 square meters.
