The Hong Kong Polytechnic University provides dormitories for teaching graduate students, but the number of dormitories is small and the price is very expensive. Might as well share a room outside. And it's easy to rent a house around the school. Every year, students live off campus. The house in the school is very expensive and the environment is not good, which is not as good as that outside the school.
The school requires students to apply for dormitories, but students at their own expense cannot apply for dormitories. If you are a self-funded student, I personally suggest that you find a house off campus and rent it as soon as possible. If you think the rent is too expensive, you can find a co-tenant. Every year, students will find a roommate.
