Zhou Gucheng, (1898 ~ 1996), a famous historian, educator and social activist in China, once served as vice chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC), executive director and first executive president of China Historical Society, president of China Pacific Historical Society, vice chairman of Shanghai Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences and president of Shanghai Historical Society. 1898 September 13 (July 28th, Guangxu 24th) was born in a peasant family in Hukou, Yiyang County, Hunan Province. In the second year of the Republic of China (19 13), he entered Changsha Provincial No.1 Middle School in Hunan Province, and 192 1 was admitted to Beijing Normal School (now Beijing Normal University). 1942 Since the autumn, Zhou Gucheng has been teaching at Fudan University, serving as the head of the history department and the provost.
