Is it legal for the school to search the dormitory and confiscate items? What should we do?
It violates China's newly promulgated property law and personal privacy. I can't say which one was violated. First of all, the school has no right to confiscate students' things, at most, it is for safekeeping. The school management system generally says that if high-power electrical appliances are found to be used, high-power electrical appliances will be confiscated and disciplinary action will be taken. If it is used, it will be confiscated by the school for damaging public property, and whether it infringes on personal property is still very vague in law. But if you don't use it, it's not illegal (if you don't hide it well and show it to the inspectors, I think it makes sense to say that you are using it, so put it away). In addition, the state protects personal privacy and publicly requires students to open boxes and cabinets. Even the public security organs need a search warrant issued by the court. Students in the school have absolutely no right to do this, and serious cases will lead to legal proceedings.
