Sichuan University for Nationalities is a provincial full-time undergraduate college located in kangding city, the hometown of love songs. The school has been selected into the "Double First-class" construction Gongga plan of colleges and universities in Sichuan Province, the education and training plan of outstanding legal talents in Sichuan Province, and the education and training plan of outstanding agricultural and forestry talents in Sichuan Province. It is the only national undergraduate college in Kangba area and a provincial garden-style campus.
The school was established in 1985, and Kangding Teachers College for Nationalities was established. 1992, the school was renamed "Kangding Teachers College for Nationalities". In 2004, Ganzi Agricultural School and Ganzi Finance and Economics School were merged. In 2009, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was upgraded and renamed Sichuan University for Nationalities.

By March 2023, the school is divided into two campuses, Kangding and Luding, with a campus area of 689 mu, a school building area of 278,000 square meters, total fixed assets of 637 million yuan, total teaching and research instruments and equipment of 654.38 billion yuan, a collection of one million paper books and more than 430,000 electronic books.
The school has 15 secondary colleges, 33 undergraduate majors, 14 second bachelor's degree majors, 19 specialist majors and ethnic preparatory education, covering arts, science, teaching, management, law, economics, agriculture, engineering, history and art 10. There are more than 6,400 adult students.
