According to the data of the International Open and Distance Education Council (ICDE), the largest and most influential open university in the world, 1938 has been a core member for a long time.
On June 2, 2012 1 day, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, China Central Radio and TV University was renamed as the National Open University, directly under the Ministry of Education. In the future, the National Open University will mainly carry out distance open education, and can offer undergraduate majors and award bachelor's degrees.
From June 5438 to February 2020, the comprehensive reform of the National Open University was promoted. Before the end of the year, many provincial radio and television universities were renamed as open universities.
