When this elderly unmarried British lady first appeared in 1930' s The Mystery of Apartment, she was 65 to 70 years old. For forty-one years, she starred in 12 novels and 20 short stories, which also made her look very old in the final case.

From the outside, Miss Ma Puer is a tall and slim lady. She has rosy cheeks, light blue eyes and snow-white hair. She always talks and sews, and even makes others often underestimate her and misunderstand that she is an ordinary "old woman". Only those who really know her can regard her as a sharp-thinking human observer with "suitable talent".

Although she devoted her whole life to the seemingly boring Saint Mary Meade, Miss Ma Puer is still sophisticated enough to realize that evil exists around us.
