I. Basic information

Ireland's national educational institution is the Irish Ministry of Education and Science. Universities enjoy a high degree of autonomy. The degree-granting status of other higher education institutions is supervised by HETAC, a subsidiary of the Irish Ministry of Education and Science, and the diplomas awarded must also be recognized by this institution.
