Zhou Jia's Teacher Dream
Being a teacher: my childhood dream

Zhou Jia's parents used to be middle school teachers. In her memory, her parents have deep feelings for the low-paid but fulfilling profession of teachers. Up to now, many students who have graduated for more than 20 years often invite them to teacher-student gatherings. Influenced by her parents, Zhou Jia longed to be a teacher for a long time. At every stage of her study, she met her own tutor, which deepened her yearning for the teaching profession.

After coming to Tsinghua, Zhou Jia's tutor Professor Gavriil Savindi and her assistant tutor Professor Rao Peilun provided her with academic and scientific help. After understanding Zhou Jia's ideas, Professor Rao Peilun intends to support her as a teaching assistant and exercise her ability to teach and manage students. As a teaching assistant of Professor Rao Peilun's "Human-Computer Interaction" course, Zhou Jia spends at least three hours every day preparing materials, designing experimental procedures and purchasing equipment, explaining experimental methods to international students in class and guiding the course projects of ten groups in the class. Zhou Jia was deeply impressed by the rigorous and earnest learning style of German students in the class. Their in-depth discussion of every detail of the class content or course project put forward high requirements for Zhou Jia. In this process, Professor Rao Peilun will explain in detail Zhou Jia's teaching methods and methods of managing students, such as how to dress and how to build dignity skillfully.

"I think majesty is more important when I first became a teacher, but with the accumulation of achievements and experience, I can gradually become friendly." In Zhou Jia's mind, a good teacher should be a teacher who is "easy-going in life and strict academically". "I hope that in the future, I can not only establish good teaching methods, but also provide more life advice to students and reduce the number of times I hit the wall."

Going to Chongqing: I have never been entangled.

The study of human-computer interaction is a relatively young and cutting-edge research direction. Many brothers and sisters of Zhou Jia have found well-paid jobs in large foreign companies such as Microsoft and IBM, and stayed in Beijing. Besides Chongqing University, Zhou Jia also received invitations from Tongji University, Zhejiang University and Xi Jiaotong University. She admits that she has never been entangled: she yearns for the broad platform provided by famous schools and is tempted by the high-quality resources assembled in big cities, but whether she can get attention on such a platform and successfully carry out the research she wants to do is what she cares more about.

"Although the engineering department of Chongqing University has been established for a long time, it is completely blank in the direction of human-computer interaction, and there is no one. Talent is needed here, "Zhou Jiaru said. After a long circuit between Shanghai and Beijing, Zhou Jia returned to the place where she was most needed. From Tsinghua to majors, from students to teachers, Zhou Jia devoted his youth to scientific research and education.
