Translation major of Beijing Foreign Studies University
The schedule of the first semester of freshmen and sophomores is basically the same as that of the English department, including English intensive reading, extensive reading/newspaper reading, writing, listening, oral speaking/speech, and one or two Chinese professional courses, China Literature and Aesthetic Consciousness and Chinese Language and Literature. Freshman stage belongs to the consolidation of English basic skills.

In the second semester of my sophomore year, I began to take translation specialized courses: basic interpretation, basic translation and cultural translation, plus Chinese specialized courses, introduction to classics of Chinese studies, and basic lessons such as intensive reading, oral English and listening.

Second, I am a sophomore, because there will be several Chinese classes in my junior year, and the basic skills class is basically gone in my junior year. Junior courses include Chinese translation of English literary works, English translation of China's works, American literature, English-Chinese consecutive interpretation, translation theory and so on. There are few classes in senior grades, such as simulated conference interpretation.

In terms of teaching materials, the basic courses are all based on the contemporary college English series, and the interpretation and translation materials are designated by the national foreign language translation certificate examination. Some courses, such as Chinese courses, are distributed by teachers and there are no fixed textbooks.

I am an undergraduate majoring in translation at Beijing Foreign Studies University.
