The 6-foot-65,438+00-inch big man became the forward partner of the Bulls together with the small forward Scott Pippen who was selected in the same session, but at the beginning, he was the substitute of the main forward of the Bulls at that time, and also a famous rebounder and low-post defense expert Charles Oakley.

1989, oakley was traded to the new york Knicks for center bill cartwright, and then Grant could play the starting power forward. He immediately became the main rebounder of the Bulls and the third scorer in the team after Michael Jordan and Scott Pippen. They were one of the best tridents in the league at that time. Because of his defensive performance, he was selected as the second team of the NBA's best defensive team of the year for four times. He helped Chicago win the NBA championship for three consecutive years (1990-9 1, 199 1-92, 1992-93), including the second shot in the third championship.

1992-93 After the end of the season, Jordan retired for the first time, and Grant became the second-in-command of the Bulls after Pippen, helping the Bulls reach the semi-finals of the Eastern Conference playoffs and losing seven games in a row against the new york Knicks. Grant was selected for 1994 NBA all-star game, 17 minutes, 4 minutes and 8 rebounds. He has a career-high 15. 1 point, 1 1.0 rebounds this season, averaging 3.4 assists per game. After the end of the season, he chose to become a free agent and joined the Orlando Magic led by Shaq O 'Neill and "Penny" Affini Hardaway. Grant helped Magic reach the 1995 NBA Finals, but was swept out by the experienced Houston Rockets led by hakeem olajuwon 4-0. Grant stayed in Magic for several seasons and was traded to seattle supersonics in 1999-2000.

After playing for the Sonics for a season, he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, Glen Rice to the new york Knicks, and Patrick Ewing to seattle supersonics. It was a tripartite deal. He helped the Lakers win another NBA championship in 2000-0 1 season, but after the season, he decided to leave the Lakers and return to Magic again. After coach Doug Rivers hinted that Grant was the "cancer" of the team, the Magic cut him off.

Grant retired at the beginning of the 2002-03 season, but in the 2003-04 season, he decided to join the Los Angeles Lakers again as a substitute for karl malone. Grant retired permanently after the Los Angeles Lakers lost to Detroit Pistons in the 2004 finals.
