In addition to training students in our college, Foreign Languages Institute also undertakes college English teaching for more than 30,000 students, and has compiled 100 national textbooks for the 11th Five-Year Plan and the 12th Five-Year Plan in Yu Ben, which is one of the most influential institutions in China. College English teaching reform has also achieved fruitful results. College English courses have been selected as excellent courses in Shanghai and China for many times, and the college English teaching team has been rated as excellent teaching teams in Shanghai and China.
With the rapid development of disciplines, the college has established the general idea of "high-quality foreign language teaching supports the cultivation of first-class talents and serves the country with first-class language and cultural research results", fully relying on the advantages of corpus translation, language testing and phonetics-language-listening research. In cooperation with China Foreign Languages Bureau, Shanghai Language Committee, Shanghai Academy of Educational Sciences, Shanghai Mental Health Center, Huawei, Comac China, Iflytek, Suzhou Institute of Artificial Intelligence and other enterprises and institutions, the translation team has completed the English translation of a large number of materials in Qian Xuesen's library and the Chinese translation of a large number of documents in the Far East International Military Tribunal, which has effectively promoted the propaganda of Qian Xuesen's advanced deeds and the research of historical materials of the Far East International Military Tribunal. The College has also carried out research on China's national image and multiculturalism, serving China's "going out" strategy with the advantages of foreign languages. The research results have been instructed by national leaders and attracted great attention from academic circles.
The school spirit of "seeking truth from facts, working hard, being the first and keeping pace with the times" and the school motto of "making the past serve the present and learning from China and the West" are the development goals of the School of Foreign Languages. In the future, the School of Foreign Languages will focus on personnel training, implement the internationalization strategy as a booster, take the strategy of serving the country as the guiding ideology, and focus on the study of major theoretical and practical issues, vigorously promote the cross-integration of foreign language disciplines and other disciplines, cultivate high-end foreign language talents with international vision, and build a world-class cross-disciplinary group of foreign languages.
