About the Department of Forensic Medicine of Fudan University: The Department of Forensic Medicine of Fudan University is relatively good, with a strong faculty. As far as forensic medicine is concerned, the six universities that are recognized as relatively good in China are also the first universities in China to offer forensic medicine (known as the "Old Six Schools" in the industry), namely Fudan University, Sichuan University, Xi Jiaotong University, Sun Yat-sen University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and China Medical University.

Although Sichuan University and Xi Jiaotong University are superior to Fudan University in the ranking of forensic medicine, Fudan University should be the best in the comprehensive ranking of schools.

The predecessor of the basic medical college was called the Department of Basic Medicine. When 1927 was founded, the department of basic medicine was not established, and it was composed of several teaching and research departments under the leadership of the former president of Shanghai Medical University. In the early days, there were teaching and research sections of anatomy and histology embryology (Professor Zhang Yan and Professor Wang Youqi), pathological anatomy (Professor Gu), physiology (Professor Cai Qiao) and microbiology laboratory (Professor Lin).

Later, there were Xu from the Department of Physiology, Zhu and Zhang Changshao from the Department of Pharmacology, Lin Feiqing from the Department of Microbiology, Qi and Zheng Sijing from the Department of Anatomy, Chen Kangyi from the Department of Forensic Medicine, Xu Youen from the Department of Biology and Xu Youen from the Department of Biochemistry.

At the beginning of liberation, teaching and research sections were established successively, including foreign language teaching and research section (Chengjiu), physical education teaching and research section (Zongyuan Wen, 1952), chemistry teaching and research section (Shi Jiazhong, 1953), physics teaching and research section (Zhuang Mingshan), pathophysiology teaching and research section (Zhu Yidong, 1955) and mathematics teaching and research section.

Later and in recent years, there were biophysics teaching and research section (Liang Zijun, 1964), biomedical engineering teaching and research section (Jiang Youming, 1979), immunology teaching and research section (Lin Feiqing, He Qiuzao, 1987), neurobiology teaching and research section (Cao Xiaoding) and molecular genetics research section (Cao Xiaoding).
