Li Yanmei: Dear leaders, distinguished guests, alumni, teachers and students, in this promising spring, we are celebrating the centenary of Tsinghua University. On behalf of the faculty, please allow me to extend my heartfelt congratulations and sincere wishes to our beloved school.
As a teacher, I love my job. 1982 I was admitted to Tsinghua University, where I received my bachelor's and doctor's degrees, and stayed on as a teacher. At school, the teacher's education and training not only taught me to be a scholar, but also influenced my career choice. In my 20-year teaching career, like other teachers in Tsinghua, I have always regarded cultivating talents as my first duty, and regarded academic research as the basic guarantee to improve the quality of teaching, trying to make the ancient chemical knowledge as vivid as a fresh fish and make every lesson the most wonderful. As a teacher, I love my students. Tsinghua University is a place where outstanding young people yearn for and gather. For teachers, every student is unique, and you need to discover, appreciate and carve. I always smile at my students, hoping that they will also smile at life and greet the future with hope. Students tell me that when you are unhappy, you will always think of your smile. I cherish several photo albums given to me by my classmates, all of which are bright smiling faces of my classmates. They will in my heart forever. For teachers, the highest evaluation is the affirmation of students. In 2008, tens of thousands of undergraduates in the whole school voted me and nine other teachers as "the first clear rhyme candlelight-my favorite teacher". Because I often encourage my classmates to be as optimistic as Winnie the Pooh, my classmates gave me a Winnie the Pooh at the awards party. Every time I see this Winnie the Pooh, my heart is full of happiness and emotion.
Groups of students in Tsinghua campus came with a desire for knowledge and success, left with the entrustment of teachers and schools, and left with Tsinghua people's heavy social responsibility. Whenever I know that former students have made new progress in their careers, I can't help but feel excited and happy. Being able to train outstanding talents for the country and society will be the greatest success in my life. Thank you!
