The College of Science and Technology of Hubei University for Nationalities was established with the approval of Hubei Provincial People's Government in 2003, and was officially approved and confirmed by the Ministry of Education in 2004. The College is a cooperative university of Enshi Prefecture People's Government to train targeted medical students for precise poverty alleviation, an advanced unit of ideological and political work for college students in Hubei Province, an advanced unit of enrollment work for colleges and universities in Hubei Province, an advanced university of financial aid for college students in Hubei Province, and an advanced university of employment statistics and standardized management for college graduates in Hubei Province.

In March 2020, the official website of the College showed that the College now has seven secondary colleges, including Medical College, School of Economics and Management, School of Architecture and Design, School of Culture and Media, School of Music and Physical Education, School of Electromechanical and Information Engineering, and College of Preparatory Education.

At present, there are 40 undergraduate courses, with a major of 10, undergraduate ethnic classes and preparatory classes for ethnic minorities, covering eight disciplines of literature, science, engineering, agriculture, forestry, medicine, arts and management, and enrolling students nationwide. At present, there are more than 32 minority students 1 1000, including 53 minority students.
