Library literature is a national property and an important material basis for school teaching and scientific research. Article 39 of the Property Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates: "If the real estate or chattel is damaged, the obligee may request restitution; If it cannot be restored to its original state or there are still losses after restoration, it may claim damages. " Libraries advocate the care of literature, and demand different degrees of compensation for the damaged or lost literature of readers according to law. The specific compensation measures are as follows: Anyone who loses books and periodicals during the borrowing period should take the initiative to explain the situation to the relevant departments of the library and go through the formalities of reporting the loss. If you really can't get it back, go to the loan office to handle the book compensation procedures. If books and periodicals are lost, they should be compensated with the same version of the original books and periodicals, and the cataloging processing fee is 2.0-5.0 yuan/book. Can not compensate the original books and newspapers, compensation in accordance with the following provisions:

1, general social science books, 2 times the original price.

2, China mathematical science and medical books according to the original price of 3 times the compensation; Chinese engineering and technical books shall be compensated at 4-5 times the original book price.

3, dictionaries, dictionaries, encyclopedias, yearbooks and other reference books, internal books and classical masterpieces. 5 times the original book price.

4, foreign books, according to the original book price of 4-5 times the compensation.

5. A complete set of multi-volume books is called series. If the contents of a single book in the series are closely related, the loss of one book shall be compensated according to the price of the whole set of books, and the loss of multiple books shall be compensated twice as much as the price of the whole set of books; Books with a single content in the series are priced as a set of books, and these books are converted into a single book price. For editions after 85 years, social science books are compensated at twice the price of a single book, self-taught books are compensated at three times the price of a single book, and editions before 85 years are compensated at 5- 10 times the price of a single book.

6. If the books published before1985 are lost, the compensation shall be 5- 10 times of the original book price (the actual compensation ratio shall be calculated by year, subject and number of copies).

7. Internal materials such as free reading, communication, meeting documents and drawings shall be compensated according to their academic value, use value and collection value.

8. If there are no copies of the lost books and periodicals, and they are needed for teaching and scientific research, the compensation price shall be determined by the library.

9. Lost rare books, rare books, out-of-print books and ancient periodicals are priceless. I write a written inspection and lose them. If the card of my unit is clearly lost, the compensation price shall be agreed by the library.

10, if a single periodical is lost, it will be compensated at the annual price of 1-3 times.

1 1. If a single newspaper is lost, it shall be compensated at three times the quarterly price of the newspaper; If the bound volume of newspapers and periodicals is lost, it shall be compensated for 3-5 times of the annual pricing of the newspapers and periodicals, plus the binding fee of 6 yuan.

12. The cardholder shall be responsible for other consequences caused by the loss of books and periodicals.

13. The compensation for the loss of books and periodicals on interlibrary loan shall be handled according to the relevant regulations of the lending unit. 1. If the damage affects the integrity of books and periodicals, it shall compensate the original books; If the original book cannot be compensated, the books and periodicals shall be treated as lost, and the cash shall be compensated according to the relevant provisions of Article 1 of these Measures.

2, damage does not affect the integrity of books and periodicals, according to the following provisions:

1) Draw, alter, circle, add batches or leave stains on books and periodicals, and each page will be fined 50 cents.

2) If the books and periodicals are slightly damaged, the compensation shall be 10- 30% of the original book price. Those who damage the back cover or binding of books shall pay the binding fee.

3) Tearing up newspapers and periodicals should compensate the original newspapers and periodicals, otherwise, it should be compensated according to the binding price.

4) The compensation for the damage of books and periodicals on interlibrary loan shall be handled according to the relevant regulations of the lending unit. 1. If the data is difficult to read due to the loss or scratch of the CD, the compensation amount shall be half of the pricing of the book to which the CD belongs.

2. If the label or bar code of the CD is damaged and affects the circulation, 2 yuan processing fee shall be paid for each CD.

3. If you buy the same CD for the lost CD, you will pay the 2 yuan processing fee for each CD. 1. For those who destroy or steal documents and materials, in addition to requiring the relevant units to deal with them, depending on the seriousness of the case, they shall be compensated according to 10- 15 times of the original books, periodicals and CDs.

2. The compensation for the damage and theft of interlibrary loan documents shall be handled in accordance with the relevant provisions of the borrowing unit.
