The mountain is not high, and the fairy is named; The water is not deep, and the dragon is the spirit. In the streets and lanes of Beimen Street in Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province, there is a very unusual ancient house. Adjacent to the noisy North Gate Market, the alley is as long and narrow as a noodle line. Its door is not big, and there is no carving dragons and painting phoenixes. "Antique and elegant" seems to have nothing to do with this ancient house. However, it is this ordinary old house that attracts many local residents and foreign tourists to visit.
According to Li's genealogy, in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, the ancestor moved his family from Putian, Fujian to Haiyang County (now Chaozhou City) in order to avoid war. Tracing back to the family history, the ancestors of the Li family were in the Central Plains. The ancestor Li Mingshan settled in Chaozhou and spread to Li Ka-shing, which happened to be 10 generation.
Li Jiafeng is rigorous and knowledgeable. Li Ka-shing's great-grandfather Li was one of the eight civil servants selected by the Qing Dynasty. The Li family is a prominent local family. There is a 3-meter-high monument in front of the house with a tribute flag, which has won the respect of the people in Sixiang Village.
Grandfather Li Xiaofan, a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty, lived in the countryside and had no official career. At the beginning of the 20th century, when China was bullied by foreign powers and western learning spread to the east, Li Xiaofan, who had read four books and five classics, resolutely sent his two sons Li and Li Yunti to Fusang to study, one studying business and the other studying normal school. Engaged in educational work in Chaoshan after returning to China.
Li Ka-shing's father, Li Yunjing, also embarked on the road of studying and teaching. Li Yunjing was smart, studious and tireless since childhood. He is always among the best in every exam. 19 13 (15 years old) was admitted to provincial Jinshan middle school with excellent results, and 19 17 ranked first in the whole school when he graduated. At that time, his family was in decline and there was no money for him to go to college. Li Yun was employed by Yang Lianmaode School and began his teaching career.
A few years later, Li Yunjing gave up teaching, went into business, traveled across the ocean, and worked as a clerk in a Yu He company run by a trendy businessman in Semarang, Java. Soon, due to the turbulent situation, Li Yunjing went home and worked as a treasurer and cashier in Yinzhuang, Heng 'an, Chaoan City. Later, due to the turbulent situation, Yinzhuang closed down.
Li Yunjing returned to the teaching field and worked as a teacher at Hougou School in Longdu. He has a good teaching and a growing reputation. 1in the spring of 935, he was hired as the principal of Anbu Hongan Primary School. From 65438 to 0937, Li Yunjing was re-employed as the principal of Anbu Guo Long Primary School until Chaozhou fell and his family moved to Hong Kong.
After more than half a century, it is difficult for people to verify Li Yunjing's real motivation for abandoning religion and going to sea. Many works think that Li Yunjing was forced by his poor family and the times.
Chaoshan area is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in China. At present, the population of Chaoshan area is about100000, and there are about 67 million hipsters who have settled overseas. If you count the influx of people who have moved to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, this figure is 10 million.
Chaoshan is the political, economic and cultural center of eastern Guangdong, and a large number of hipsters moved overseas, which began in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Chaoshan's overseas trade is developed, but the consciousness of "whoever incites money first and accidentally leaves her" and "relocation" is weak. The migration of hipsters can't be attributed to poverty alone. Active exploration is the unique landscape of Chaoshan culture. The migration of hipsters is also different from that of Shandong people who broke into Kanto and Ningbo people who broke into Shanghai. People's footprints are still at home, and hipsters look overseas.
The climax of influx of immigrants overseas began in the middle of19th century. Shantou opens port 186 1, and exports tens of thousands of contracted laborers from China every year. According to the historical statistics of Guangdong Customs, from 1876 to 1898, there were1500,000 Chinese from Shantou via Hong Kong or directly to Southeast Asia, most of whom were hipsters. There are many film and television literary works in China that reflect the history of China workers' blood and tears. Contracting Chinese workers to stay away from their homes is "deception, coercion and even kidnapping". This is real history, but it is not the whole history. Most of the workers are voluntary, and they look forward to it, wave upon wave, and become a common practice.
Hipsters are full of adventurous spirit and pioneering consciousness. A large number of people emigrated overseas, the number of workers decreased year by year, and the number of businessmen increased year by year. This wave of overseas immigrants did not stop until 1949 * * * the production party established a new regime in the mainland.
Li Yunjing lived in such a big cultural atmosphere. Although he accepted the traditional family education, he could not be unaffected by it. In Chaoshan, there is a legendary story of overseas wanderers making a fortune under construction. Even though there are more disappointments than hopes, it still constitutes the motivation for hipsters to travel in the sea.
Regardless of Li Yunjing's motives, he is one of the losers. No matter how turbulent the situation is and how sinister the shopping mall is, he still returns to the original point-coaching again. Li Yunjing may have accepted too much traditional morality, emphasizing righteousness over profit and being poor and happy; Perhaps he is more keen on education and regards education as the foundation of strengthening the country and benefiting the people.
From Li's family education, we can't find any genes to make money in business. It is rare for Li Ka-shing to become a generation of business pride.
The Hanjiang River is blue and mighty. It has crossed the Chaoshan Plain for thousands of years and went south to the sea. Chaozhou ancient city, with Jinshan in the north, Bijia Mountain in the east, Hulu Mountain in the west, three mountains and one water, is picturesque, like a paradise.
When Li Ka-shing came into this world, the world was not peaceful. The Northern Expedition won a brilliant victory, but China was still in a semi-feudal and semi-colonial society. After the long-term prosperity of the world economy, the Great Depression followed.
Chaozhou is a corner of peace, which is not affected by the current situation. Li Yunjing and his eldest son, Jia Cheng, are wandering among the green mountains and green waters, and all the troubles in the world will drift away with the river. Li Yunjing's greatest expectation for his son is to learn something and serve his country and hometown-this is his life experience when he set foot in the mall and faded out of it.
Li Ka-shing lived up to his father's expectations and was smart and studious. At the age of 3, I can recite three-character classics and thousands of poems. "Goose goose, Xiang Tiange. White hair floats with green water, and red palms dial green waves. " Li Ka-shing's best childhood entertainment was to compose poems. "The beginning of life is naturally good; Sex is similar and learning is far away. " It is in these children's books that Li Ka-shing was first influenced by traditional culture.
At the age of five, under the guidance of his father, Li Ka-shing took Confucius as his teacher and went to Guan Hai Temple Primary School facing the north gate. The school is the temple property of Guan Hai Temple, and chanting and reading sound come and go.
The New Culture Movement has experienced more than ten years of ups and downs, and big cities such as Shanghai and Guangzhou are enjoying the civilization of the industrial revolution. The sound of reading in school is as endless as the sound of chanting in a temple. "What is it?" It constitutes the main content of teaching, and time suddenly freezes.
On the wall of the classroom, there is a striking couplet:
Wind and rain, reading, hearing.
Family affairs, state affairs and world affairs are all concerned.
Professor Wang's poems and essays are familiar to Li Ka-shing at home, and he has a strong interest in unfamiliar poems and essays. Li Ka-shing went home and told his father, who told him about the atrocities of the Japanese occupation of the three northeastern provinces and the sneak attack on Shanghai. Father's melancholy expression is deeply engraved in Li Ka-shing's young mind.
In the Li family's ancient house, there is a small library, and there are ancient books packed in thread on the shelves. "There is a road to diligence in Lushan, and there is no limit to learning the sea." Every day after school, Li Ka-shing would soak in the library and read poems tirelessly. He dabbles in a wide range, such as the Book of Songs, The Analects of Confucius, Li Sao, Tang poetry, Song ci, Yuan Qu …
Li Ka-shing's cousin Chia Chih Li recalled: "Jia Cheng was like a bookworm. He is addicted to books and loves reading by nature. We were all surprised that he went to Hong Kong to run an industry and became a rich man. "
His other cousin, Li Jialai, who has been engaged in education for life, lamented: "Jia Cheng is ten years younger than me, but he is extremely sensible. He studies hard and is conscious. I have met him many times. He lights kerosene lamps in the study and doesn't sleep very late. "
Li Ka-shing's understanding and diligence in reading won his father's heart. Li Yunjing is the principal of Ren Hongan Primary School. Soon, Li Ka-shing transferred to Hong 'an Primary School, and father and son had the opportunity to get together every day.
The topic of their party revolved around books. Books show another world in Li Ka-shing. In his father's voice, Li Ka-shing seemed to see Qu Yuan who was worried about the country and the people, and sang "The road is long, and I will go up and down to seek"; Li Bai stood at the bow. "When you bid farewell to the colorful clouds in Bai Di, Jiangling will return in a day; The apes on both sides of the strait can't stop crying, and the canoe has passed Chung Shan Man "; On a cold autumn night, Du Fu sang bitterly: "There are thousands of spacious buildings, and the poor in the world are happy!"
Li Ka-shing seems to understand, but one idea is particularly clear: study hard, get ahead and serve the country and people.
Li Yunjing, whose family was poor and failed to make contributions, had high hopes for his son. Li Ka-shing's excellent academic performance is the greatest comfort to his frustrated father.
If it weren't for the sudden change, Li Ka-shing would have embarked on the road of reading and learning. At the same time, he will probably follow in his father's footsteps and become a teacher in his hometown.
The fortunes and misfortunes of life can only be summarized by history.
1July 7, 937, War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression broke out in an all-round way. With its arrogance and advanced weapons, the Japanese army gradually occupied half of China.
Chaoshan in a corner of the world is not peaceful. From time to time, newspapers publish news of broken mountains and rivers and tyranny of the Japanese aggressors with eye-catching headlines. My father was transferred to Guo Long primary school as the principal, and he was worried all day. Mother Zhuang Biqin believes in Buddhism, burns incense and worships Buddha, and prays for the Buddha to bless her family and villagers.
1in June, 939, Japanese planes painted with scarlet sun signs appeared over Chaoshan and bombed the city. The county education department announced that all schools would be closed. Li Ka-shing still remembers his last lesson as a student in his hometown. Anbu, located in the countryside, was not bombed by enemy planes, but most students still arrived at school on time.
The Chinese teacher gave an impassioned explanation of Yue Fei's "Man Jiang Hong". Finally, the teachers and students sang "March of Volunteers" with tears of indignation:
"Get up, people who don't want to be slaves, build our new Great Wall with our flesh and blood ..."
Soon, Chaozhou fell under the iron hoof of the Japanese army. While burning and looting, the Japanese army posted notices about the safety of the people everywhere. The residents of this city have been in fear, shrouded in white terror. People fled the city and went to the countryside to visit relatives and friends to escape the war.
On June 22, the Japanese invaders occupied Anbu, and Li Yunjing, who had been teaching for many years, was completely unemployed. He took Li Ka-shing back to his home in Chaozhou. Li Ka-shing hasn't graduated from primary school yet, and he has no hope of further study, and he dare not leave home at will, so he has to hide in the library and read ancient books. The current situation is turbulent, and Li Ka-shing has learned a lot about life. He especially likes the poems of Wen Tianxiang, Lu You, Yue Fei and Xin Qiji, and deeply understands their true meaning and worries.
The sun flag is flying at the head of Chaozhou city, and the stream of people fleeing the disaster of war is still endless. Fathers have more hearts than sons. Liu Yun often met with intellectuals in the city to discuss anti-Japanese plans in secret. Many young intellectuals defected to the front lines of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression or guerrillas behind enemy lines. Li Yunjing has an old mother, a wife and children, and failed to take this step. Every time he thinks about it, he feels extremely guilty.
/kloc-at the beginning of 0/940, Li Yunjing fled to Songkeng Township, Longdu, Chenghai County with his wife and belt, and went to his aunt. Soon, he fled to Hougou and took refuge in his younger brother Li Yi, who taught in Houtong Primary School.
When the brothers met, Li Yunjing said sadly, "I ran away, lost my job and lost my life. There is malaria at home, and there is no medicine or medicine. Misfortunes never come alone, and they are miserable. "
This year, my grandmother died of shock and poverty. Li Ka-shing's uncles Li and YUNDI teach in other places. Chaoshan fell and the Japanese invaders ran rampant, but they failed to come to Hougou to attend the funeral. Two brothers, Li Yunjing and Li Yi, funded a simple funeral for their mother and buried them in the mountains of Hougou in a hurry.
Li Yunjing has been unemployed for a year and still hasn't found a teaching post. He can't do manual labor or small business. He can only sigh that "nothing is a scholar". Li Yi, his younger brother, has a low salary, and Li Yunjing can't bear to accept his help. Li Yunjing was in a hurry because his savings for many years were running out.
My brother-in-law, Zhuang Jing 'an, is a Yin businessman in Hong Kong, and the mainland is at war. However, Hong Kong was peaceful and prosperous, and became a refuge for mainlanders in wartime. Li Yunjing and his wife Zhuang Biqin discussed for many days and decided to go to Hong Kong to take refuge in Zhuang Jing 'an.
Trees move to death, and people move to life. Li Yi agreed to her brother's plan. The day before they left, the two brothers took their families to the mountain to pay homage to their mother. It was night, and the two brothers were drinking by a faint oil lamp. Li Yunjing told his life experience and lamented that the ideal of saving the country through education was wasted and completely shattered.
The two brothers sighed and began to cry.
/kloc-in the winter of 0/940, Li Ka-shing, his younger brother Li and his younger sister embarked on a difficult journey with their parents.
Most important towns and avenues were occupied and blocked by the Japanese army, and the sea was impassable. Japanese warships rampaged along the coast of eastern Guangdong. Li Yunjing's family only dared to take the rugged mountain road, but they acted at night when crossing the plain.
In the cold winter, it is cold and humid, and it rains heavily. They dare not and can't afford to stay in an inn, or sleep in barren hills, or spend the night in the huts of good people in mountain villages. They crossed the Japanese blockade, but fortunately, they never met Japanese soldiers. On the mountain road, we meet refugees who have left their homes from time to time. They may come or go. Where is the paradise where they can live in peace? Everyone feels at a loss and despair.
Li Yunjing's family went through a lot of hardships and trudged for more than ten days, and finally arrived at their destination in Hong Kong.
Hongkong rewrote Li Ka-shing's life track; Hongkong has produced a great businessman Li Ka-shing. Decades later, Li Ka-shing returned to his hometown. The emaciated teenager who fled with his parents has now become a world-famous billionaire.
As a popular saying in business circles: "There is no such thing as a free dinner." It will be even more difficult for Hong Kong to wait for a young Li Ka-shing.
