In July 2005, Southwest Normal University and the former Southwest Agricultural University merged into Southwest University.
Located in Chongqing, Southwest University, referred to as Xida for short, is a university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), which is jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government. It is a "double-first-class" world-class discipline construction university, ranking the dominant discipline innovation platform in 21project and 985 project.
Selected into 7 universities, including 1 1 plan, 201plan, outstanding agricultural and forestry talents education and training plan, outstanding teachers training plan, 100-school project, national postgraduate plan for building high-level universities, and national college students' cultural quality education base. Chongqing University Alliance was established as one of the seven universities in China that independently selected and enrolled students.
