In 20 13, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed Shanxi Media College. In 20 18, it was granted the right to grant a master's degree to set up a training unit. The school is the third undergraduate college of mass media in China, and also the professional training base of the State Administration of Radio and Television.

The school has eight secondary colleges, including Film and Television College, Animation and Digital Art College, Art Design College, Broadcasting Hosting College, School of Journalism and Communication, School of Cultural Creativity and Management, School of Media Fusion Technology, Performance College, three teaching departments, including Ideological and Political Theory Teaching Department, Basic Courses Teaching Department and Continuing Education Department, and three teaching auxiliary institutions, including library, film and television production center and information center.
The school enrolls students from 3 1 provinces nationwide, and currently there are 9 180 full-time students. Graduates are distributed in the central radio and television general station, local radio and television institutions, animation creative institutions, networks and new media and other related units. Most of them have become the backbone of the business in the field of radio and television media and have been well received by employers.
