Located in Hengyang City, Hunan Province, University of South China is a comprehensive university jointly established by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, China National Nuclear Corporation, China Nuclear Industry Construction Corporation and Hunan Provincial People's Government. It is a key university supported by the basic capacity building project of universities in the central and western regions of the country, and has been selected into the excellent engineer education and training plan, the excellent doctor education and training plan, the national environmental protection training base, the first batch of "new engineering" research and practice projects of the Ministry of Education, the national nuclear emergency publicity and training base and the national nuclear emergency medical rescue.
The school is a multidisciplinary university formed by the merger of Central South Institute of Technology, which was originally affiliated to the Ministry of Nuclear Industry, and Hengyang Medical College, which was originally affiliated to Hunan Province, in May 2000. From June 5438 to October 2002 10, the Sixth Research Institute of Nuclear Industry, which was originally affiliated to the Ministry of Nuclear Industry, was merged into the University of South China.
As of September 20 18, the school has two campuses, namely, Hongxiang and Yumu. There are 18 teaching colleges, 6 directly affiliated hospitals,1/cooperative affiliated hospitals and 25 cooperative postgraduate training units. There are 73 undergraduate majors, mainly in engineering and medicine, including philosophy, economics, law, literature, science, management and art.
