Up to now, the college has established eight high-level pharmaceutical basic courses laboratories and eight teaching and research practice bases, including Lushan Botanical Garden, and cooperated with many overseas research and teaching institutions such as the University of West Virginia, NTT Institute of Advanced Technology in Japan, Wuppertal University in Germany, and Lille Second University in France. At the same time, he also participated in the construction of the state key laboratory of virology, and established the third-level national laboratory of traditional Chinese medicine and the R&D and promotion center for small and medium-sized enterprises in Hubei Province (Hubei R&D Center for Drugs and Medicinal Materials). At present, it has formed stable research directions such as genetic engineering drugs, chiral asymmetric synthesis, clinical pharmacy, biopharmaceuticals, traditional Chinese medicine pharmacy, molecular pharmacology and bioinformatics. He has won more than 50 national, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, published monographs 16, won 4 provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress awards through a number of appraisal results, applied for 44 patents and obtained 35 patents. In particular, important progress has been made in the research and development of genetic vaccines against SARS virus and new drugs for cardiovascular diseases.
The College of Pharmacy has 56 professional teachers, including Luo Jia distinguished professor 1 person, professor 1 1 person (including 7 doctoral supervisors) and 22 associate professors (including 65,438 doctoral supervisors). In addition, six domestic and foreign scholars, including H.-J. Altenbach, director of the Institute of Organic Chemistry of Wuppertal University in Germany, were employed as part-time or visiting professors.
