Nanjing Forestry University, referred to as "Lin Nan", is located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. It is a provincial-level key university jointly established by the State Forestry Administration, Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Provincial People's Government. It is the first batch of world-class discipline construction universities in China.
It was selected as the first batch of "Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talents Education and Training Plan", "National Key Discipline Project" to build universities, "National Postgraduate Project to build high-level universities", "National College Students' Cultural Quality Education Base", "National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Plan", "201Collaborative Innovation Center" and "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" in Jiangsu Province.
The school was formerly the Forestry Department of Central University (founded in 1902) and the Forestry Department of Jinling University (founded in 19 10), and Nanjing Forestry College was merged in 1952, which was one of the only three forestry colleges in China at that time. 1955 Huazhong agricultural college (formed by the merger of Wuhan university, Nanchang university and Hubei agricultural college) was merged with the forestry department, and 1972 was renamed Nanjing forestry industry institute. 1983 restored the name of Nanjing Forestry College, and 1985 changed its name to Nanjing Forestry University.
As of March 20 19, the school has three campuses, covering an area of 10725 mu, with a total value of 830 million yuan for teaching and research instruments and equipment, 22 colleges (departments), 74 undergraduate majors, 8 postdoctoral mobile stations, 8 first-level disciplines authorized by doctoral degrees and 25 first-level disciplines authorized by master degrees./kloc-0
