At present, Jiangxi Normal University has two campuses, of which Yaohu Campus belongs to High-tech Zone and Qingshan Lake Campus belongs to donghu district.

Yaohu campus is the main campus, also called the new campus. The first and second majors of the school are all in this campus. The address originally belonged to Nanchang county, and now it is planned as a high-tech zone.

Jiangxi Normal University originated from Lushan Bailudong Academy and was founded in 1940 as National Chung Cheng University. 1949 was renamed Nanchang University, 1953 was renamed Jiangxi Normal University, and 1983 was renamed Jiangxi Normal University. It is the oldest undergraduate institution of higher learning in Jiangxi Province. In 2003, Jiangxi Financial Workers College (Jiangxi Bank School) was incorporated.
