Academic achievements: Applicants need to have a first-class honours bachelor's degree from a British university or an international equivalent. For non-British degrees, UCL will evaluate them according to the education system of the host country.
English proficiency: Non-native English speakers need to prove that their English proficiency meets the requirements of UCL. This is usually proved by English language test scores such as IELTS, TOEFL and Cambridge Advanced English (CAE). Different courses have different requirements for scores.
Letter of recommendation: Most courses require two letters of recommendation, preferably from professors or employers who have studied or worked before.
Personal statement: Applicants need to submit a personal statement explaining their reasons for choosing this course, relevant background and career planning.
Research plan/proposal: For research-oriented master's and doctoral programs, it is also necessary to submit a research plan or proposal to show the applicant's research interest and direction.
Work experience: Some courses require work experience in related fields, especially in business schools and law schools.
