Huake is one of the top ten universities. In 2022, Huake ranked seventh. The full name of Huake is Huazhong University of Science and Technology. It is one of the national key construction universities of "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project", and the first batch of "double-class" universities.

The school has 109 undergraduate majors, 48 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degrees, 46 first-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degrees, and 39 post-doctoral research stations. At present, there are 7 national key disciplines, 15 two disciplines (three levels of internal medicine and surgical credits) and 7 national key disciplines (cultivation).

In the fourth round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education, 44 disciplines participated in the evaluation, all of which were on the list, including mechanical engineering, optical engineering, biomedical engineering, public health and preventive medicine. Among them, it entered A+, A 14 disciplines and B+ and above 33 disciplines. Eight disciplines were selected into the first round of "double first-class" construction disciplines in China.

The school implements the strategy of "developing the school with talents" and has a strong faculty. There are more than 3,700 full-time teachers, including professors 1.400 and associate professors 1.400. Among the teachers, there are 20 academicians, chief scientist of "973 Plan" project 15, chief scientist of major scientific research projects/2, chief scientist of national R&D key projects1kloc-0/person.
