Yanbian University (Yanda University for short) is supported by Jilin Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education, and supported by Jilin Provincial People's Government and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission. Ranked among the national "double first-class" construction universities and "2 1 1 project" key construction universities; Selected as "11plan", it is a counterpart supporting institution of Nankai University and Peking University.

The school is located in Yanji City, Jilin Province, and the current principal is Cai Hongxing. The school motto is "realistic, perfect and integrated". As of March 2022 1, the campus covers an area of 1.96 million square meters, with a construction area of 920,000 square meters. There are 22 colleges and 76 undergraduate majors; 10 first-class doctoral degree authorized discipline; 32 first-class master's degree authorized disciplines.

Among them, foreign language and literature disciplines were selected as the national "double-class" construction disciplines. The school has 2225 faculty members. The school was founded in 1949, once under the Ministry of Higher Education of the State Council, and was transferred to Jilin Province in 1957.

From August 65438 to August 0958, Yanbian University was divided into Yanbian University, Yanbian Medical College, Yanbian Agricultural College and Yanbian Institute of Technology. 1996 With the approval of the former State Education Commission, the former Yanbian University, Yanbian Medical College, Yanbian Agricultural College, Yanbian Normal College and Yanbian Branch of Jilin Art College merged to form a new Yanbian University.

In September of the same year, Yanbian University of Science and Technology, a Chinese-foreign cooperative education institution, was merged into Yanbian University. By the end of 2022, Yanbian University ranked 185 in China University of Soft Science in 2022.
