Hunan Vocational College of Railway Science and Technology is not a second university, but a junior college. Hunan Railway Science and Technology Vocational and Technical College is a public full-time institution of higher learning approved by Hunan Provincial People's Government and put on record by the Ministry of Education. Founded by the former Ministry of Railways 1956, formerly known as Zhuzhou Railway Machinery School. In 2004, the main and auxiliary railway were separated, and the college was handed over to Zhuzhou Municipal Government by China Railway Guangzhou Bureau Group Co., Ltd. as the business director of Hunan Provincial Education Department. In March 2005, it was upgraded to a full-time higher vocational college. On August 20 13, the first batch of schools moved to the Vocational Education University Town in Yunlong Demonstration Zone. The campus covers an area of 5 14 mu, with a building area of 228,000 square meters, with more than 3000 teachers and students/kloc-0. This is an eco-friendly "two-oriented" campus.
According to the "three-step" development strategy of "focusing on two tracks, focusing on getting out of two tracks and speeding up to the international market", the college has three teaching departments, namely Railway Locomotive Institute, Railway Locomotive and Rolling Stock Institute, Railway Transportation Management and Economics Institute, Railway Engineering and Information Institute, Railway Power Supply Institute, Basic Courses Department, Ideological and Political Courses Department and Sports Department, with enrollment majors.
