1 School Introduction

The school's predecessor was Beijing Institute of Geology, which was formed by the merger of Peking University, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University and the Geology Department (branch) of Tangshan Railway Institute during the adjustment period from 65438 to 0952. 1975, moved to Wuhan, temporarily renamed Wuhan Institute of Geology. 1978, the former Beijing campus was established in graduate department, Beijing.

1987, renamed China Geo University, headquartered in Wuhan. In March 2005, the university headquarters was abolished and Wuhan and Beijing became independent schools. As of June 5438+February, 2022, the school covers an area of 525,843 square meters and has practice bases in Zhoukoudian, Beidaihe and Pingquan, Hebei. There are 16 colleges and 47 undergraduate majors.

There are 15 postdoctoral research mobile stations, 16 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 34 first-level discipline master degree authorization points, and 15 professional degree authorization categories; Teaching staff 1723, full-time teachers 1007; Full-time students 17289, including 8456 undergraduates, 6546 masters and 265438 doctoral students +0 19 international students.

2. Historical evolution

At the beginning of the school, the school was located in Beijing Beach (formerly geological museum, Peking University), Duanwangjiadao (formerly Peking University Institute of Technology) and Hebei Xuanhua Geological School. On February 24th, 65438, the State Council appointed Liu Xing, a veteran cadre of the Red Army, as the first president of Beijing Institute of Geology, and Professor Yin Zanxun, a famous geologist and deputy director of the China Geological Work Steering Committee, as the vice president.

1952 On July 4th, the preparatory committee of Beijing Institute of Geology was established, with Li Siguang, director of the steering committee of China Geological Work Plan, as the director of the preparatory committee. 165438+ 10/day, the first opening ceremony of Beijing Institute of Geology was held in Duanwangfu Road, Beijing.
