Southwest University of Political Science and Law is a famous school of political science and law, and is known as the "National Southwest Associated University" of law education in New China.

Southwest University of Political Science and Law, located in the beautiful mountain city of Chongqing, is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning of political science and law established in New China. It was founded by the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government and was one of the first national key universities. It is called the "National Southwest Associated University" of law education in New China.

The predecessor of the school is Southwest University of Political Science and Law, and the predecessor is Southwest People's Revolutionary University, which was established in 1950, with Marshal Liu Bocheng as the principal. 1953, based on the Department of Political Science and Law of Southwest People's Revolutionary University, the law school (department) merged with Chongqing University, Sichuan University, Guizhou University, Yunnan University and Chongqing University of Finance and Economics was formally established.

1993, becoming the authorized unit of doctoral degree. 1995, the school was renamed Southwest University of Political Science and Law. In 2003, it became the first batch of authorized units for doctoral degrees in first-class disciplines of law.

As of March, 2065438+2008, the school has three campuses, namely Yubei, Shapingba and Baosheng Lake, covering a total area of more than 3,000 mu. There are more than 2.06 million paper documents and 64 Chinese and foreign language databases. There are more than 20,000 students and 2,300 faculty members.

At present, there are 13 colleges, offering 23 undergraduate majors, 1 doctoral degree authorization points for first-class disciplines, 0/2 doctoral degree authorization points for two disciplines, 7 master degree authorization points for first-class disciplines, 38 master degree authorization points for two disciplines and 6 master degree authorization points. There are 2 national key disciplines and 9 provincial and ministerial key disciplines.
