The predecessor of the college can be traced back to Guangxi Business School founded by 1960 and Guangxi Finance and Economics School founded by 1963. In May 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Guangxi University of Finance and Guangxi Business School merged to form Guangxi University of Finance and Economics.
