North China Electric Power University is a key construction university under the national "2 1 1 Project" directly under the Ministry of Education, and a national key university established by the board of directors of seven super-large power enterprise groups, including the Ministry of Education and State Grid Corporation. The school was founded in 1958, formerly known as Beijing Electric Power University. 1969 moved from Beijing to Hebei and changed its name to Hebei Electric Power Institute and North China Electric Power Institute. 1995 merged with Beijing Institute of Electric Power Economics to form North China Electric Power University. The school is headquartered in Beijing, with Baoding campus, and the two places implement integrated management.
