Yunnan University for Nationalities is located in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. It is a comprehensive provincial key university founded by the Ministry of Education, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the Yunnan Provincial People's Government. It is a first-class discipline construction university in Yunnan, and has been selected into the "Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, the bilingual talents training base of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, and the scholarship receiving institution of the China Municipal Government for international students in China. It is a doctoral degree awarding unit. [ 1][2]

Yunnan University for Nationalities was founded in August 195 1, formerly known as Yunnan University for Nationalities, and it is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning for nationalities founded by the people of China. In April 2003, it was renamed Yunnan University for Nationalities.
