College English is a compulsory course for English and translation majors. For example, non-English majors such as law, mathematics, information and Japanese must take college English classes. The purpose of offering college English is to lay a good foundation for the study of specialized English offered in junior year, such as legal English, computer English, chemical English and so on.
What do you study in college English?
No matter what kind of students, their college English courses include "reading course" and "listening and speaking course" for one year. Class A students set advanced English reading (1) and (2), while Class B students set improving English reading (1) and (2). Listening and speaking classes are also classified. In the second academic year, I will take various English-related expansion courses.
Generally speaking, there are fewer students who fail in class A and more students who fail in class B. Reading class is not easy to fail, and one or two classes fail; Listening and speaking classes are easier to fail, and there are more students who fail.
The ratio of reading to listening and speaking is 4: 6 at ordinary times and at the end of the term. Students will have more homework and self-study tasks to complete, and teachers will check them regularly. If the attendance rate of reading class is relatively high, the class hours are not too many, and the final period is in the range of 50 ~ 60, the teacher will let the students pass. Speaking and listening classes are generally graded, and the final exam is conducted by listening.
