Fudan University was founded in 1905, formerly known as Fudan College. The word "Fudan" is selected from the famous sentence "The sun and the moon compete for brilliance, Fudan is thriving" in the Biography of Shangshu Yu Xia. Its founder, Mr. Ma, a famous educator in modern China, intends to strive for self-improvement.

1937 After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, the school moved to Beibei, Chongqing, and 194 1 was changed to a national university. 1946 moved back to the original site of Jiangwan, Shanghai. From 65438 to 0952, Fudan University became a national key comprehensive university under the leadership of the Ministry of Education. In April 2000, Fudan University merged with Shanghai Medical University to form a new Fudan University.

Thanks to the unremitting efforts of Fudan people in the past century, especially the key construction projects in the last six five-year plans, Fudan University has now become a multi-disciplinary comprehensive university, forming a campus pattern of "one body and two wings": namely, the Han campus and Jiangwan campus are integrated, and the LAM Raymond campus and Zhangjiang campus are two wings.

By the end of 20 12, the school had 28 directly affiliated departments, 34 post-doctoral research stations, 1 1 national key disciplines, 19 national key disciplines in two disciplines, 5 national key laboratories, 4 engineering research centers of the Ministry of Education, and 12 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education.

The school has a high-level faculty, including doctoral supervisor 1402, master supervisor 1708, 37 academicians of China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering, 62 distinguished professor of Changjiang Scholar Award Program of Ministry of Education, 35 lecturers of national key basic research and development programs (including major scientific research programs) and 29 chief scientists.

The school also has 10 affiliated hospitals such as Zhongshan Hospital and Huashan Hospital, which creates good conditions for cultivating high-level medical talents.
