Oujiang College of Wenzhou University was established with the approval of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government in 2000 and approved as an independent college by the Ministry of Education in 2004.

The College is a national-level experimental zone for innovation of talent training mode in entrepreneurship education, an experimental zone for innovation of talent training mode in Zhejiang Province, a research base for entrepreneurship education in Zhejiang Province, a cultural and creative industrial park in Wenzhou City, a small business venture base in Wenzhou City, an information security center in Wenzhou City, and a branch park of Wenzhou National University Science Park.

Oujiang University adheres to the tradition of Wenzhou University, establishes a brand-new school-running concept of "relying on the mother, being relatively independent and having school-running characteristics", relies on the high-quality educational resources of Wenzhou University, introduces a new school-running mechanism and mode, and runs schools according to the requirements of the Ministry of Education and the operational advantages of private universities.
