Due to the small scale of Lanzhou city, there is no space to build a new campus, so the surrounding area of Lanzhou has become the best choice. At that time, the Lanzhou municipal government planned to vigorously develop Yuzhong County and build it into a national new district. In this case, the school leaders at that time decided to build the new campus in Yuzhong County.

But what people didn't expect was that the Lanzhou municipal government put forward the development pattern of "one heart and two wings" and turned to vigorously develop Lanzhou New District. For Lanzhou, which has insufficient finance, it is still unable to develop the main city (that is, with one heart), plus Lanzhou New District and Yuzhong County (that is, the two wings), the finance is of course tighter. Under such circumstances, the construction of Yuzhong County is seriously lagging behind, which also hinders the development of Yuzhong Campus of Lanzhou University to a great extent.
