The Veterinary College of South China Agricultural University has a long history. 1952 The former Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Departments of Sun Yat-sen University, Lingnan University and Guangxi University merged to form the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department of South China Agricultural University. The first director was Professor Kuang Ronglu, a famous veterinarian in China. The Department of Veterinary Medicine of South China Agricultural University was established in 1987, renamed as Department of Animal Medicine 193, and renamed as Department of Veterinary Medicine 20 1.
In 2002, the direction of prevention and treatment of small animal diseases was added on the basis of animal medicine specialty, and the direction of animal pharmacy was established in 2004. In 2005, the specialty of animal pharmacy was established on the basis of the direction of animal pharmacy.
