Xiyou and Xi Posts and Telecommunications, hereinafter referred to as Xiyou and Xi 'an Posts and Telecommunications, are universities established by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China and the Shaanxi Provincial Government, "national first-class universities" in Shaanxi Province, provincial high-level universities in Shaanxi Province, universities initiated by the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education, and national universities initiated by the "New Engineering Research and Practice Project" of the Ministry of Education, and selected into universities, Chang 'an Alliance and CDIO Engineering Education Alliance. ?

The school's predecessor was 1950, which founded the training courses for post and telecommunications personnel in Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, and later xi 'an Post and Telecommunications School. Xi Institute of Posts and Telecommunications was established on 1959 with the approval of the State Council, and it is the only ordinary university of posts and telecommunications in northwest China. In 2000, it was transferred to Shaanxi Province, and a central and local management system was established, with Shaanxi Province as the main management. On March 20 12, it was renamed as Xi University of Posts and Telecommunications with the approval of the Ministry of Education.

In July 2022, the school official website showed that the school had two campuses, Chang 'an and Yanta, covering an area of 1.500 mu.
