The school's predecessor was 1950, which founded the training courses for post and telecommunications personnel in Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, and later xi 'an Post and Telecommunications School. Xi Institute of Posts and Telecommunications was established on 1959 with the approval of the State Council, and it is the only ordinary university of posts and telecommunications in northwest China. In 2000, it was transferred to Shaanxi Province, and a central and local management system was established, with Shaanxi Province as the main management.
