School profile

College of Mathematics is one of the oldest departments in Sichuan University. 1896 (the 22nd year of Guangxu), Sichuan Governor Lu was ordered to establish Sichuan School of Chinese and Western Studies, and determined that "the key to western learning lies in algorithms". The established mathematics school was the source of the mathematics school. That year, the Mathematics Museum recruited 30 students, majoring in mathematics. 190 1 year, which was reported by the General Administration of Westernization to the Governor of Sichuan for review, and the first graduation certificate of the Mathematics Museum was issued to the student week.

1994, in 2000, Chengdu University of Technology and West China University of Medical Sciences merged with Sichuan University successively, and the teachers of basic mathematics courses of the two schools were merged into the Mathematics Department of Sichuan University accordingly. In order to meet the needs of the reform and development of Sichuan University, the Department of Mathematics and the Institute of Mathematics of Sichuan University merged to form the School of Mathematics of Sichuan University, from 65438 to 0998.
