Yokohama National University, referred to as Yokohama National University, Yokogawa and YNU for short, is a comprehensive national university with its headquarters located in An Chuan District, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is the only national university in Japan with the word "national" and one of the "thousand public universities" in the four countries in the capital circle, enjoying a high teaching and social reputation.

Yokohama National University, formerly known as 1876 (Meiji 9), is one of the oldest universities in Japan. On 1949, it completed the integration and reorganization with the former Yokohama Institute of Economics, Yokohama Institute of Technology and Kanagawa Youth Normal School, and established Yokohama National University as a legal person in 2004.
