Two. Introduction to University of Shanghai for Science and Technology University of Shanghai for Science and Technology is a key applied research university in Shanghai, focusing on engineering, with the coordinated development of engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and art. In 20 18, the school became a pilot unit for the construction of "high-level local universities" in Shanghai.
The school context can be traced back to Hujiang University founded by 1906 and German Medical College founded by 1907. 1906, American Christian North-South Baptist Church founded Hujiang University on the bank of Pujiang River in Shanghai. From 65438 to 0928, Liu Zhanen was the first president of China of Hujiang University, and he was fully integrated into the national education system of China. After the founding of New China, the relevant departments of Hujiang University were adjusted to major universities in East China, and the site of Hujiang University was established as Shanghai Industrial School, which was later renamed as Shanghai Machinery Institute (1959), Shanghai Machinery Institute (1960- 1994) and east china institute of technology (1994-6594). 1907 german doctor baolong opened a german medical school, and 19 12 added engineering. 1922, the Chinese and French governments jointly established the China-France National Institute of Technology on the original site of the German Medical Engineering School. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, it merged with the National Senior Mechanical Vocational School, which moved from Chongqing to Shanghai, and established the National Shanghai Senior Mechanical Vocational School. After the founding of New China, it was transformed into Shanghai Advanced Machinery Vocational School, and later renamed Shanghai Machinery Institute (1983— 1996). 1996, east china institute of technology merged with Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering to form Shanghai University of Technology. From 65438 to 0998, the school was placed under the management of Shanghai by the Ministry of Machinery Industry. In 2003, Shanghai Institute of Medical Devices (Shanghai Medical College was founded on 20 15) and Shanghai Institute of Publishing and Printing were placed under the management of Shanghai University of Science and Technology. After a hundred years of vicissitudes, the majestic university has been handed down from generation to generation, and there are endless string songs. It has cultivated a large number of patriotic youths and people with lofty ideals, a large number of academic elites, engineering experts and social leaders, and trained more than100000 outstanding professionals for the country and society, enjoying the reputation of "Manufacturing Huangpu Military Academy" in China. In the process of integration, inheritance and innovation, the school embodies the school motto spirit of "faithfulness, diligence, love, thinking, learning and striving", which inspires managers to be upright, innovative and forge ahead.
The school covers an area of nearly 1000 mu. There are 17 colleges (departments) with more than 27,000 full-time students, including18,000 undergraduates and 9,000 postgraduates. There are more than 2,900 faculty members, including 9 academicians of China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering (including double employment), 75 national talents, 89 provincial and ministerial talents/kloc-0, 859 teachers with senior titles and 260 doctoral supervisors.
Relying on, serving and leading the industry development for a long time, the school is a backbone university in equipment manufacturing, medical devices, publishing and printing industries. Power engineering and engineering thermophysics, optical engineering, management science and engineering have long been in the leading position in China, and have a deep industry foundation in medical devices and publishing and printing. In recent years, the discipline layout of the school has been continuously optimized. There are 60 undergraduate majors, 8 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 6 post-doctoral research work mobile stations, 27 first-level discipline master degree authorization points, 18 master degree categories. There are 19 national teaching platforms and 5/kloc-0 provincial and ministerial platforms, 7 national scientific research platforms and 34 provincial and ministerial platforms. Engineering, materials science and chemistry are the top 1% majors in ESI. The school actively meets the strategic needs of China and Shanghai, and builds five first-class disciplines and plateau disciplines of management science, namely, optical engineering, system science, power engineering and engineering thermophysics, mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering, with three international laboratories of optics, intelligent manufacturing, medical devices and rehabilitation engineering as carriers, and accelerates the construction of high-level universities.
