A research team led by qi zhou, a researcher at the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Ceng Fanyi, a professor at the School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiaotong University, completed a research result. Qi zhou et al. prepared 37 iPS cells and injected 1500 tetraploid embryos with 6 iPS cell lines. Finally, 27 live mice were obtained from 3 iPS cell lines. It has been proved by many molecular biological techniques that mice are indeed developed from iPS cells. At present, some mice have matured and bred offspring. This is the first time in the world to obtain a living mouse prepared entirely from iPS cells, which strongly proves that iPS cells are truly totipotent. This work provides a technical platform for further research on the application of iPS technology in the fields of stem cells, developmental biology and regenerative medicine, and pushes the research of iPS cells to a new height, which has become an important contribution made by China scientists in this international hot research field.
