Henan Normal University is a provincial key university. Its predecessor was Zhongzhou University founded by 1923 and Pingyuan Teachers College founded by 195 1. In many social changes, it has gone through the periods of Science College of Sun Yat-sen University, Henan University and National Henan University.
1August, 949, Pingyuan province was established. In order to meet the urgent needs of construction, the people's government of Pingyuan Province decided to tentatively name it Pingyuan University.
