Yangzhou University is a key comprehensive university in Jiangsu Province, and it is the first university in China to run a combined school. It was formed by the merger of six universities including Yangzhou Normal College, Jiangsu Agricultural College, Yangzhou Institute of Science and Technology, Yangzhou Medical College, Jiangsu Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Jiangsu Business School on 1992. Xuzhou Normal University is located in the historical and cultural city of Xuzhou. It is a provincial normal university with the longest history, the largest scale, the most disciplines and the strongest comprehensive strength in northern Jiangsu. Its predecessor was Jiangsu Normal University, and 1956 was established in Wuxi with the approval of the State Council. In order to support the development of education in northern Jiangsu and optimize the layout structure of higher education in the whole province, the school moved to Xuzhou in 1958 and merged with Xuzhou Normal University at that time to form Xuzhou Normal University.
