The University of Malaya was formerly King Edward VII College, established in 1905 and Raffles College in 1929. The two universities mainly trained medical talents and educational talents respectively, and on June 8, 1949, they merged to form the University of Malaya, mainly to train senior talents for Malaya and Singapore at that time.
