It was founded in 188 1, formerly known as StorrsAgriculturalSchool, and 1939 was officially named the University of Connecticut. The main campus of the University of Connecticut is located in Stals, Mansfield, Connecticut. The University of Connecticut is regarded as a "public Ivy League school" by many scholars who study higher education. The University of Connecticut is an institution of higher learning recognized by the Association of Colleges and Universities in New England and a member of the Great Eastern Competition Alliance (BEC).
