The capital, Windhoek, is known as the cleanest garden capital in Africa, full of flowers and rich European customs. Although it has a population of 400,000 (nearly one-fifth of the total population of the country), the whole city still makes people feel quiet and comfortable.
The city retains three medieval German castles. The famous museum of culture and history is located in an old castle. There are several hot springs flowing nearby, so it was called "Egams" in ancient times, which means "hot water". It is the industrial and commercial center and transportation hub of Namibia. The trade of livestock products is very prosperous, and it is a world-famous distribution center of Karakul sheepskin. At the same time, the textile and food processing industries are also very developed.
